Free Electricity & Tax Exemption for Public Leaders
This includes
Teachers, Police, Firefighters, City Workers, Health Care Professionals, and Farmers.
They give so much to our community, and it's time we give their families some much needed relief from the burden of these bills. With PPP and Contributionism, this is the goal for everyone in our city, but on DAY ONE, we can do this for our public servants.
I believe this will boost morale, increase performance outcomes, and will
unify us in harmonious action for greater good for all in our community.
We are all responsible for the outcomes of our city, but we rely on these
public workers to do the tough jobs, like protect our communities,
educate our children, pick up trash and keep our city clean, heal the wounded,
and take the personal risks so everyone else can be safe.
Now, this is just the beginning of a new culture in public service. It's important we honestly address the underlying challenges we face as a city, and we must have the highest standards and expectations for our public servants.
This type of leadership starts at the top, and embodies itself from the ground up.
Some other initiatives we will explore in improving our public service culture:
-
Strong emphasis on community and police engagement through familiarity. Every police officer should know between 300-500 community members on a first name basis. What their passions are, what inspires them, what do they love about Austin, what are their ideas on how to keep our community safe? Every citizen must take it upon themselves to become friends with our police, to know about them on a personal level. When we become friends, we have a stronger web of safety and accountability. This way we can prevent violence and improve trust amongst our community.
-
Teaching is the most consequential job in Austin. It's time we acknowledge how important our teachers are; they are literally shaping and molding our children's perspectives, expanding their minds, and giving them their first experience with trust and collaboration with strangers outside of their families. Thus, teachers are literally building the foundation for our city's future. It's in the schools where our children are learning to interact as independent contributors of society, and so we must honor and cherish the role of teachers. We promise to do everything we can to empower our teachers with resources, tools, and community support, so our future generations in Austin can truly reach their highest potential.

Farming is exciting and dynamic work. Too often do we overlook how our food got to our plate, and write-off farming as 'low-skilled' labor; however, farming is the most ancient and sacred of human professions. Growing something is spiritual and profound, and it connects us with the planet and mother earth. We vow to do everything in our power to support farmers and expand local organic farms, so we can become more resilient and food secure, as well as a healthier and more sustainable food-centered society. Farming is something we should all know how to do, and have some experience with, so we can become more grateful for the blessings of our abundant world.

Shoveling the shit is important. Let's not underestimate how important trash and cleanup workers are to our city. Without this system functioning to it's highest level, we would quite literally drown in disease. It's time we treat this profession with the respect it deserves. While doing so, it is imperative we radically re-calibrate how we handle waste in our city. Our trash problem is a growing nightmare, and with some very simple adjustments, we can repurpose our waste into something useful. Not only is this ecologically crucial, but also economically sound.
This is just the beginning of a new paradigm for how we keep our city clean, safe, healthy and abundant for ALL People. You're invited to participate!
