Building the community as ONE.
With Contributionism, we have the opportunity to develop ALL of our people's talents and skills and leave no one behind, to work COOPERATIVELY to reach the highest levels of health, prosperity, innovation, and quality of life for everyone. We will use these tools to unite our community behind a common vision that when people cooperate, we all benefit.
ONE SMALL TOWN
I am blessed to call Michael Tellinger a friend and consider him one of the most intuitive visionaries of our time. His ever-evolving body of research is diverse and mystically thought-provoking; however, I believe his most powerful work is in the book Ubuntu Contributionism and in the One Small Town model. Watch the video:
Contributionism for Austin
The Contributionism/One Small Town model provides an inspired framework and fundamental concept for Austin to use in solving every challenge we face as a city. We will create a Network of Contributionism Community Projects, which will be 100% owned and operated by the people, all fueled by volunteer efforts. No one is forced to contribute, but those that do will see tremendous benefits. The profoundly powerful standard we apply to choosing the community projects is:
If it isn't good for everyone, it's no good at all.
Any citizen of Austin who consistently contributes a segment of time (3-5 hours per week) to any of the projects will receive:
(a) Free Electricity at their home
(b) Free products/goods/services generated by the entire network of projects
(c) Profit-sharing from any revenue generated by the network of projects
The projects we choose to create and develop will be determined by the people, as to fit the most urgent and relevant needs of the community.
I believe some of our most urgent needs are:
- Cooperative Organic Farming
- Trash/Pollution Cleanup/Ecological Restoration
- Constructing Eco-Villages for the Homeless and Indigent
- Waste/Recycling Management and Repurposing
- Infrastructure Improvements
- 'Sweat-Equity' Housing & Neighborhood Renovations
These are some examples of community needs that can be met, raising the baseline fundamentals for people living in depressed conditions. With cooperative labor that is incentivized and bolstered by unified-intention,
we quickly discover that truly anything is possible!
One of the most liberating and empowering realizations is that:
Money does nothing, People do Everything
The possibilities are limitless. Imagine what kind of people-owned-and-operated cooperative businesses could spawn within this network:
- Industrial Hemp Processing for textiles, building materials, food, medicine
- Creative Crafts, Products, 3D printing and manufacturing
- Renewable Technologies
- Sustainability Products for Home Health
- Beauty and Cosmetic Products
- Clothing & Fashion
- Educational materials and enlightening media
- Online retail and sharing-economy platforms
And on and on... Think of like the people of Austin coming together to become one large cooperative business, whose primary objective is to raise quality of life for people in Austin, making virtually everything free and abundant for locals, while simultaneously developing products and services we export to the international markets to earn shared-profit and return wealth to our workers.
Rather than our labor being exploited for extremely low pay, while profit margins weigh heavily toward the greedy few, we create an equitable system of profit-sharing, so the people earn ALL the profit. Not only will this improve our work morale, but it will spawn a new motive for the type of products we create, since everything will be driven by raising quality of life, rather than cutting corners and toxic output. We can literally liberate ourselves and then sell our high quality of life to the rest of the world. The global consumer market will have the option to support a people-owned, high-quality producer like 'the people of Austin' or go with a standard corporation...Which would you choose?
Think of this like a parallel economy that raises people into abundance without extracting capital from the current economy.
This is the best part! No one has to quit their job, and not a single thing is extracted through tax or capital to make this happen.
We literally need only ourselves to make this happen, and City Hall to support this network by utilizing the tools of our infrastructure to incentivize our collective contribution to the greater good and the raising of people out of poverty through sweat-equity & cooperative co-creation.
Everyone stands to benefit and no one will lose anything.
Remember, money does nothing, people to everything. All we need is each other. The possibilities are infinite! I am inviting you to lead with me now. This is your city, now let’s make it truly special. One City. One Family.
