"In an age where connectivity is everything, limited internet access is a clear indicator of social inequality."

  • I believe that we should de-commodify internet access and establish a people-owned network of infrastructure and unlimited data access.

  • Limiting data access has become another method of widening the wealth divide, since inherently those who do not have a large data budget are less connected, and therefore have fewer economic opportunities.

  • It's time the internet actually became a public utility, owned by the people, for the people.

  • We should start in communities that have the least internet access, and work our way across our city, so eventually everyone is connected.

  • This is a no-brainer. Why would we not want to become the first city in America to freely connect our people to the world economy? Why would we place artificial limits on how our people can contribute to the online co-creation?

  • All we need to do is design a method where we redirect our currently spent funds into the purchasing and owning of the needed infrastructure to make this a reality.

Do you have any ideas on new technology that can accelerate this reality? Please share your reflections below.
